Ausgrid is a state-owned corporation whose shareholder is the New South Wales Government. The Ausgrid electricity network provides power to 1.6 million homes and businesses throughout Sydney, the Hunter and the Central Coast.
That network is made up of more than 200 large electricity substations, 500,000 power poles, 30,000 small distribution substations and almost 50,000km of below and above ground electricity cables.
Ausgrid had been using Rapid Induct at 4 sites but with 60 sites in total they required a solution for site security, in particular to ensure site access was restricted to only inducted personnel.
The Rapid Access now provides swipe card access control to all 60 sites and monitors fatigue of workers by tracking the working hours and alerts if the worker has reached fatigue level. With over 4000 people, the site access control system is enhancing security and improving safety for the business.
Rapid Access is an evacuation hero: In a recent site evacuation, the Ausgrid team was the fastest to evacuate the site. Other companies sharing the same facility remarked on the speed and accuracy of the Ausgrid evacuation. The printed evacuation list provided by the Rapid Access proved invaluable in assisting the supervisor in contacting all staff on site and ensuring a remarkably speedy evacuation.
